Yes. Death does not erase love or the people we have loved. The soul remains an individual Spirit, with its memories, affections, and relationships, and loved ones may meet again in the spirit world.
But Spiritism does not describe the afterlife as everyone remaining permanently together in one place. Spirits continue to progress, and their circumstances may differ. Love can survive separation even when two Spirits are not constantly together.
Will I See My Loved Ones Again After Death?
Marie’s Answer
One of the deepest fears in grief is not only that someone has died. It is that the relationship itself has disappeared. According to Spiritism, it has not.
Death ends the life of the body, but it does not erase the individuality of the Spirit.
The person you loved does not dissolve into something anonymous. The memories, affections, and qualities that formed that relationship do not simply cease to exist.
Kardec describes relatives and friends meeting again after death. He also says that those who have died before us may welcome someone returning to the spirit world. But this does not mean that everyone immediately lives together forever in the way a family might live together on Earth. Spirits continue their own journey and may be at different stages of progress.
What survives is deeper than physical proximity.
Love no longer depends on sharing a house, hearing a voice across a room, or being able to touch someone. Spiritism teaches that affection between Spirits can continue when the body that once expressed it is gone.
Your loved ones may also remain aware of you.
Kardec describes Spirits as capable of perceiving incarnate people and even our thoughts, although that does not mean every Spirit watches every moment of our lives. Their attention, condition, and interests differ just as people do.
And sometimes a Spirit may draw close to someone they love. Spiritism accepts the possibility of such contact, but it does not promise signs, dreams, apparitions, or messages on demand. Kardec himself distinguishes between the existence of Spirits and the particular circumstances in which manifestations may occur.
So if you receive no sign, do not conclude that love has disappeared. Perhaps the most important Spiritist answer is simpler:
death can interrupt a life together without ending the bond that made that life matter.

Can Loved Ones Who Died See or Hear Us?
1
According to Spiritism, Spirits can perceive people who are still living, but not through physical eyes and ears in the same way we do. Kardec describes perception as belonging to the Spirit itself once it is no longer limited by the body's sensory organs.
This does not mean that a deceased loved one is constantly watching everything you do. The Spirits’ Book says Spirits can observe us when they direct their attention toward us. Their interests, freedom, and spiritual condition still matter.
So Spiritism offers something different from the idea of someone permanently looking down from above: the possibility of continued awareness and connection without constant surveillance.
Do Loved Ones Who Died Know We Miss Them?
2
Spiritism teaches that Spirits may perceive more than our spoken words. Kardec describes communication through thought and says Spirits can sometimes perceive thoughts that incarnate people would otherwise keep hidden.
That means grief and affection do not necessarily need to be spoken aloud in order to exist within the relationship between Spirits.
But this should not become a reason to worry about every painful thought. Missing someone, feeling angry that they died, or struggling with grief does not make your love less real. Spiritism does not ask the grieving person to perform happiness for the sake of the dead.
To miss someone is itself evidence that a relationship mattered.
Can Loved Ones Visit Us After Death?
According to Spiritism, yes, a Spirit may draw close to people still living. The Spirits’ Book says that Spirits can visit incarnate people, and Kardec's writings describe spontaneous manifestations associated with affection and family relationships.
But a visit does not necessarily mean seeing an apparition, hearing a voice, receiving a dream, or noticing an unmistakable sign. Spiritism accepts communication between the two states of life while also warning against assuming that every unusual experience must come from a Spirit. Kardec repeatedly emphasizes discernment when dealing with claimed spirit communication.
So the absence of signs should never be interpreted as absence of love.
A bond does not need to prove itself through a manifestation in order to continue.
